An Interview with Jila Bani Yaghoub’s Mother : My Children haven’t Committed any Crime, They Just Tell the Truth!

Friday 3 July 2009, by admin

Feminist school : Ten days ago (June 20) Jila Bani Yaghoub and her husband Bahman Ahmadi Amouie , both journalists, that were arrested at their home by plain clothes security forces and since then Jila has called her family once but there is not any information about Bahman Ahmadi Amouie.

so we interviewed Eshrat Oliyaee , Jila Bani Yaghoub’s mother :

How were you been informed of Jila’s arrest ?

My younger daughter was speaking with her on the phone that evening when Jila told her that some officials have come for her and her husband then she hung up abruptly, after that we continuously called their home and they answered twice and after 3 am they didn’t answer any more. It was early morning we went to their home, their neighbour said they were taken away with two separate black cars.

Did they confiscated any thing ?

Two personal computers and their cell phones were not at home and many of their writings were thrown all over the floor. I don’t know if they confiscated any thing else, the neighbours said that the officials treated my children with brutality when they were being taken away.

Do you think her arrest was for any special article or news report that she had done ?

Jila has been out of job for about a year so she didn’t work for any particular newspaper, she just wrote some articles as a freelance journalist and all her activities were according to the laws. these journalists have lost their jobs many times and also their newspapers have been suspended regularly. I don’t understand what crime my children have committed, they didn’t do any thing against the law, they just said the truth .

Have they called you since then ?

Jila called me once and said she is in Evin prison in ward no. 209 but my son in law has not called any one since and we are extremely worried for him . we hope to hear his well and we are waiting for their immediate release
